Pritchard Prize for Excellence in Watch Repair and Restoration

The Pritchard Prize was developed by the late Mrs. Kathleen Pritchard and is funded through the estate of her late husband, Wilbur L. Pritchard. Mr. Pritchard’s interests in gears and machinery led him to watches, which he collected and repaired.
The Pritchard Prize is intended to encourage people to restore original watches and document the restoration process through text and photographs. A complete photographic record should be kept of the restoration project, including before and after pictures. A detailed written explanation of the work performed should be included with the photographs.
Candidates may be from any country. NAWCC membership is not required. Amateur as well as professionals are encouraged to apply.

Registration Due Date: Prior to January 31, 2010, applicants must submit written notice of their interest in participating, including a description of their project.

Project Due Date: Completed projects, including photographs, documentation, and the insured completed timepiece must be submitted before April 1, 2011. The timepiece will be returned by insured mail after the review.

Please note: The NAWCC reserves the right to defer the Pritchard Prize until a minimum or three participants submit applications. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, received applications will be returned and the contest will be suspended until 2012.

Award Date: Any 2011 recipient of the Pritchard Prize will be announced at the NAWCC National Convention in Overland Park, KS, June 8-12 , 2011.

Award: The recipient of the Pritchard Prize will receive a certificate and a $1,000 cash award.

The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc. (NAWCC) oversees the administration of the Pritchard Award.
