The National Watch & Clock Museum plans several special events each year. Events range from familiy sleepovers, food and beverage tastings, decade dances, special tours for NAWCC Members and Friends of the Museum, special educational events, and much more.

Clayton Tongate of CMS Research will help you get started on the journey to understand the life of the maker of your timepiece. This program will show how genealogical resources can help pinpoint where and how clock and watchmakers did business and what they did in their spare time. Tongate is a genealogist and document restoration technician with 25 years’ experience and serves as a volunteer in the research department of the Fortunat Mueller-Maerki Library & Research Center located in the Museum building.

On Saturday, September 22, in conjunction with Smithsonian Magazine’s Free Museum Day, the National Watch and Clock Museum will hold its fourth annual Cloktoberfest. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. enjoy behind-the-scenes tours of the Museum, make-and-take a clock, a steampunk fashion show, book sale, silent auction, area food trucks, and vendors selling horological, industrial, steampunk, and handmade items, and more!

Have you ever wondered what goes bump in the night? Have you ever heard a strange noise you couldn’t quite place? Or maybe you have had a strange feeling or seen something out of the corner of your eye? Many of these feeling s and stories are tied to people, places, and things, while some are carried on through time by word of mouth. On this special Halloween edition of Time Talk, curator Kim Jovinelli will be discussing the ghosts of the museum of time.

Homeschool Day
Make plans to attend the National Watch & Clock Museum's Homeschool Day on Tuesday, October 16th. Activities include: scavenger hunt through the museum, make a clock to take home, meet a real-life watchmaker and clockmaker, learn about the art of reverse painting on glass, behind the scenes tours of the museum, and more! Tickets are $10 for students (under 6 are free) and $6 for adults (1 free adult per family). Whiskey 'n' Watches

Join us on November 8th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9 p.m., for our first annual Whiskey & Watches event at the National Watch & Clock Museum.
Stoll & Wolfe will pour different whiskeys for tasting, comparing and contrasting appearances, aromas, and flavors. Casta Cigars will hand-roll the perfect cigar for you to enjoy. Bully’s Restaurant will offer food and, for out of towners, lodging. Drew Zimmerman, owner of Zimmerman Watch Repair, will give advice about purchasing high-end wristwatches. All vendors are local to the York and Lancaster county areas. A limited amount of tickets are available. Attendees must be 21 or older and IDs will be checked at the door. Tickets are $50 each.

TimeTalk – Neo-Victorianism & Horology: A Discussion
This talk will feature a delightful conversation by Kim Jovinelli and Clayton Tongate about the parallel universes of steampunk and historical horology. The following questions will be answered: Why is steampunk important to horology? What are some misconceptions and falsities linked to steampunk? How does steampunk educate the public using time?

Santa Visit with Holiday Make & Take
Holiday Make & Take $18, this includes confectionaries, a visit from Santa, a Christmas themed clock to take home and touring the museum.
We are asking for advanced reservations, seating is limited. Please register by Tuusday, November 20th.

Monday, December 31st
New Year’s Eve at Noon
Come join us for a kid friendly New Year’s Eve celebration. There will be a dance party with Father Time, face painting, games, craft activities, a balloon drop at noon and much more!
