WS-226 How to Use a Jacot Tool

Course dates: Sunday, March 30, 2008

The art of turning between centers is an essential skill for the watchmaker.  One of the most efficient methods of turning between centers is by using the Jacot tool.  This traditional watchmaker’s tool is design specifically for this function.  This one day workshop will show the participants how to use this versatile tool.  Topics covered will include:

  • The history of the Jacot tool
  • The nomenclature of the tool
  • Setting up the tool
  • Use of the tool
  • Polishing of pivots

This is a one day hands on workshop for the advanced student or professional watchmaker.  All materials will be supplied but the student may bring their own watch parts.

The workshop will be held at the NAWCC School of Horology on Sunday between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30.  This includes two 15 minute breaks and 1½ hours for lunch.

For additional information contact Katie Knaub at the NAWCC School of Horology: 717-684-8261, ext. 237.
