WS-221 Using the Micro Mill to Rebush a Clock

Course dates: Sunday, June 29, 2008

There are many different methods used to replace worn bushings in a clock.  Traditionally the tools used were either a hand bushing tool or a bushing machine.  This one day workshop demonstrates another approach to the problem by using a micro mill to rebush a clock plate.  The participants will learn how to:

  • Set up the mill for Rebushing
  • Identifying the proper bushing size
  • Centering the plates
  • Cutting a new hole
  • Inlaying the bushing
  • Fitting and finishing the bushing.

This course is designed for the advance student or the professional clock maker.  The participants should have some understanding of how to use machine tools.  All equipment and supplies will be provided.  This workshop will be held in conjunction with WS-220, Using a Micro Lather to Repivot a Clock or Watch.

The workshop will be held at the NAWCC School of Horology on Sunday between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30.  This includes two 15 minute breaks and 1½ hours for lunch.

For additional information contact Katie Knaub at the NAWCC School of Horology: 717-684-8261, ext. 237.
