WS-205 Servicing A Fusee Clock

Course dates: Saturday and Sunday, November 8 - 9, 2008

One of the most fascinating and romantic timepieces is the fusee clock.  These precision made machines have a special mechanism that regulates the release of power.  Servicing a fusee clocks have a unique set of problems.  In this 2 day workshop the student will learn how to clean and maintain these unique clocks.  Topics covered will include:

  • Evaluation of the clock
  • Disassembly of the movement
  • Disassembly and servicing of the fusee
  • Inspection and repair of the fusee chain
  • Cleaning and reassembly of the movement
  • Lubrication and adjustment of the movement

This is a hand on workshop specifically for the experienced repair person.  Students most supply their own movement and parts.  All other materials and tools will be supplied.  Here is an ideal opportunity to service a fusee clock under the direction of an experienced horologist.

The workshop will be held at the NAWCC School of Horology on Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30.  This includes two 15 minute breaks and 1½ hours for lunch.
