WS-201 Servicing the Marine Chronometer

The Marine Chronometer is a precision instrument that needs to be regularly serviced to maintain its accuracy. This two day workshop will introduce the student to the proper methods and techniques in servicing the Marine Chronometer. Some of the subjects covered:
- Removing the movement from its case
- Examining and evaluating the movement
- Disassembly and cleaning
- Reassembly and lubrication
- Adjusting and timing the movement
- Replacing the movement in its case
This hand on workshop is structured for the students with some watch and clock experience and must supply their own timepiece. All other tools and materials will be supplied.
The workshop will be held at the NAWCC School of Horology on Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30. This includes two 15 minute breaks and 1½ hours for lunch. |
