Lesson Plan

WS-118: Collecting Clocks for Beginners

Course Dates: Sept 09, 2007;

This is an introduction to the time-honored hobby of collecting clocks.  Participants will be given an insight into the methods and practices involved in collecting clocks.  The workshop will discuss subjects such as:

  • How to start your collection
  • What should I collect
  • Where to look for clocks
  • How to evaluate a clock
  • Tips on managing your collection
  • How to clean and display your clocks
  • An introduction to reference materials and resources

The 1-day workshop will be held at the NAWCC School of Horology from 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  This includes two 15-minute breaks and 1½ hours for lunch.

All needed materials will be supplied including some examples of different types of clocks.  Class time will include a guided tour of the clock collection in the National Watch & Clock Museum.

Although the workshop is focused toward the beginner, the more advanced collector is also welcome
