WS-112: Servicing a Clock for the Beginner
Course Dates: July 12-13, 2008 (FULL); July 19-20, 2008; October 11-12, 2008
This 2-day workshop will introduce student's to the proper method of
servicing an American time and strike movement. Using modern examples
of these traditional movements participant's will learn how to:
- Diagram and evaluate the movement
- Let down the power and make the movement safe to work on
- Disassemble the movement
- Clean and dry the movement parts
- Re-assemble and lubricate the movement
- Synchronous the strike train
- Time and adjust the escapement
By the end of the workshop the student's will have an understanding
of how the time and strike movement works and the proper way to service
it. The tuition and lab fees will cover all materials including a new
movement that will be serviced in class and then taken home by the
student.
The class is open to all who are interested, whether an advanced
collector or a beginner.
The workshop will be held at the NAWCC School of Horology on Saturday
and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This includes two 15-minute
breaks and 1½ hours for lunch.
