WS-109: Introduction to Clock Repair with Steven G. Conover

Course Dates: This is a 6-week Tuesday evening workshop starting on Sept. 11, 2007.

Steve G. Conover, well known and respected author and clockmaker, will conduct a six-session workshop on basic clock repair.  Conover will discuss the basics of the pendulum clock in an open forum.  Students will be encouraged to interact with Conover in an open dialogue. Topics will include:

  • Nomenclature 
  • Basic servicing 
  • Basic repair 
  • Lubrication and adjustment 
  • Strike and Chime mechanisms 
  • Setting up and timing the clock

This is a hands-on program open to all interested individuals   All materials and tools will be supplied.  Students may bring an inexpensive pendulum clock to the first class session. Contact the instructor by phone or e-mail if in doubt about whether a particular clock is appropriate to repair in class. The workshop will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday evening for 6 weeks at the NAWCC School of Horology in Columbia, Pennsylvania.
