SUBMITTING DISPLAY ADS
We accept Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Illustrator, Quark
XPress, or CorelDraw files. Send separate images if they are not embedded in
the layout files. Send unusual fonts if from a PC platform. PDF files are
acceptable if fonts and images are embedded in the PDF file. We accept ads
on 1.44 MB diskettes, CDs, or by e-mail (see instructions below).
1. If the ad is text only—Please send Microsoft Word (.doc, or .rft),
Adobe Illustrator (.ai or .eps), CorelDraw (.cdr), or Quark XPress (.qxd)
files.
2. If the ad is text with photography—The text should be laid out
using one of the above programs. Photographs may be scanned at 300 dpi
actual size and placed in the ad. The scanned image file should be sent
along with the document file. We prefer .jpg or .tif file formats. If you do
not scan in your photograph the layout should indicate where to place the
photo and the photograph should be sent in separately. Do not convert the
photograph to a halftone prior to sending it to us.
3. If the ad is text with black line art—The text should be laid
out using one of the above programs (in item 1). Line art can be scanned at
1000 dpi and imported into your text file or sent to us as hardcopy and we
will place it within your file. The hardcopy of the line art should be at
least 600 dpi laser quality.
All files should be sent in with a laser printout and a list of the fonts
used. All imported or linked image files should be sent. We use the PC
platform. We can work with MAC files but fonts may be substituted. We cannot
accept output from digital cameras unless the resolution is equal to 300 dpi
at actual print size. When submitting files via e-mail, a hardcopy of your
file submissions, sent via USPS or fax (717-684-0878) , is very helpful to
ensure accuracy.
If you are unable to submit a file in the above graphics formats, the
following is acceptable:
Laser printouts incorporating line art with text. The printout must have
a resolution of at least 300 dpi, preferable 600 dpi. Hardcopy of scanned
photographs is not acceptable if output is from a laser printer. If you
incorporate photographs in your camera-ready submission please mark
placement of photographs on the hardcopy and send the photographs
separately.
