About the Cover
In July of 1989 NAWCC member Elmer Finken sent in two photographs that he had taken of two different clocks. He enclosed a letter, which stated, "the 'Chariot' clock with doves by the New Haven Clock Co. was manufactured ca. 1915 and sold for $14.68. As with many parlor clocks, this one featured beveled glass and an enameled dial. The example shown here is in unrestored condition." Former editor Amy Smith kept the chariot clock photo and wrote to Mr. Finken that it would be filed for possible later use on the cover. Last month ,Mr. Finken reacted graciously to the news that his photo would be featured on this month's cover (after a15-year wait), and he thanked us "for the good news about the upcoming June cover photo." We're happy that Amy Smith decided to file away the image of this fanciful golden putto-driven clock and we encourage other members with wonderful clocks to please send pictures to us for possible use on future, but not so further future, covers.
