On our front cover, shows a small Empire clock produced circa 1838-1839 by E.C. Brewster. The dial background is bare zinc and the tablet is decorated with a colorful reverse painting. This clock has a rare E.C. Brewster card label and the earliest phase of the Brewster thirty-hour cast iron back-plate movements. It is described in detail and in context with other E.C. Brewster clocks in Joyce Wahler's article starting on page 293. Photography courtesy of Joyce Wahler. |
