About the Cover

On the front cover, The painting by Patrick Reynolds which will be featured as part of the new NAWCC Museum exhibits when it re-opens in 1999. Mr. Reynolds shows the surveying work done by Mason and Dixon to end the boundary dispute between Pennsylvania and Maryland, during the years, 1763 to 1767. Note the tall case clock, which was used to record celestial events during the survey. See p. 765 for more about the clock. Photo by Hayman's Studio, York, PA.
