Novelty Shelf Clock, 1982
Nelsonic
Long Island, NY

"E.T., The Extra-Terrestrial", the 1982 hit movie, was the inspiration behind this animated novelty alarm clock by Nelsonic. The molded plastic case shows the alien in his familiar pose with his hand extended in friendship. The battery-powered quartz movement was made in Hong Kong and features an alarm, which when activated causes the figure’s long neck to extend. The alarm stops when E.T.’s neck is compressed back down into his body. The Museum’s novelty clock collection contains dozens of characters from hit television shows and movies from the 1950’s through the present.
