After the wheel cutting engine divides and cuts the wheel into equal number of teeth, the wheel is left with flat teeth. These must then be rounded to a shape which will better mesh with the various pinions and wheels of the watch. The rounding up tool completes the teeth by cutting a slight round to the top of each tooth. This particular rounding up tool was used and customized by Tommy Thompson, a master watch maker for Calwell, Philadelphia. He passed this tool onto Frank Wonderline, another watchmaker at Calwell's Donated by Frank Wonderline |
