Volunteer Registrar
Provides support to the Museum Curator by implementing the Museum’s collections management policies and procedures with primary responsibility for duties related to incoming & outgoing loans, acquisitions, and collection inventory projects.
This volunteer position ensures continuity of collections care and facilitates the maintenance of the highest standards in the stewardship of the Museum’s collections.
Duties include:
Assisting the Museum Curator in determining appropriate methods of packing and shipping for incoming and outgoing loans and new acquisitions and condition reporting with preparators and curators; taking digital images; preparing incoming and outgoing receipts, loan agreements, and deeds of gift; assist the Museum Curator with corresponding with donors, lenders, and vendors; assigning loan and accession numbers; inputting information about incoming loans, new acquisitions, and deaccessions in PastPerfect collections management system; creating and maintaining accession, deaccession, and incoming loan files; assist the Museum Curator with annually renewing long-term loans; working with Museum Staff to plan and implement inventory projects; inputting location information in PastPerfect; proofing object information for labels; working on in-house exhibitions; responding to verbal and written collection inquiries.
Preferred Experience:
Interest and/or knowledge of horology
Bachelor’s degree in history or related field preferred.
Past experience with museum registration.
Strong time management, organizational, planning, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication and computer skills (PastPerfect and Microsoft Office experience preferred).
Detail-oriented, accurate, and flexible.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work well individually and as part of a team, and work with diverse staff, donors, lenders and vendors.
