Museum
Upgrade Exisiting Security Surveillance. Price: $9,200
Thank you to Buckeye Chapter 23 for their $4,000 pledge to this project!
We are seeking donors to match Chapter 23's pledge.
This upgrade includes the installation of a DVR Recorder, three indoor high-resolution color cameras, three exterior high-resolution color cameras, and all necessary software for local and remote viewing. This equipment is compatible with the Museum's existing security cameras. Donors may gift the entire amount or fund a particular aspect of the upgrade. Download the proposal (.pdf)
32 channel DVR: $4,000
3 Exterior cameras: $1,200 each
3 Interior cameras: $800 each
Film of the Museum. Price: $10,000
The National Watch & Clock Museum is a great resource which is out of reach for most members. By creating an overview film of the museum and documentary style footage of specific objects we can begin to bring the museum into the reach of more members. The final product may be used as a chapter meeting program and can be used in pieces as an educational portion of our website. The estimated investment would include the planning, production, editing, and duplication of 1,500 copies. We would then be able to make one available to each chapter, the library, and have the remainder available through the NAWCC bookstore/gift shop.
HOBO U10 Temperature/Relative Humidity Logger -- 10 Loggers plus software. Price: $750
An economical logger for indoor monitoring of temperature and relative humidity. The U10's small size and large memory make this a great multi-purpose logger. These will be used to closely monitor and record temperature and humidity conditions throughout the museum’s galleries and storage areas. You can learn more about them at the manufacturer's website: http://onsetcomp.com/data-logger
Barcode Printing Upgrade and One (1) Portable Laser Scanning Device. Price: $650.00
The Barcode Printing Upgrade allows PastPerfect to print barcode labels in a variety of formats. The most common barcode formats are Code 128 and Code 39. PastPerfect supports these and other standard barcode formats. This will allow us to keep better track of our collections and streamline the collections inventory process.
Museum & Library Collection Storage Improvements. Price: $75,000
Chapters or individuals can pledge any amount towards this project. Donors will be recognized in the Museum Rotunda Donor Niche.
The Museum and Library’s ability to continue their missions of collecting and preserving horological material of all types is increasingly challenged by a lack of adequate and appropriate storage. While great strides have been made in ensuring material is stored in accordance with American Association of Museums standards, both the Library and Museum are in need of significant upgrades.
A plan for this has been drafted by Storage Concepts of Pennsylvania and will increase Museum and Library storage capability by almost 2/3 if implemented. It will also allow for greater access to the collection by visiting scholars and NAWCC Members.
Educator
Public Programs Series -- $5,000
A series of public programs held throughout the year at the museum that encourages the community and public to learn more about time and timekeeping.
Lightweight 8 ft. tables -- $1,500
Ten tables for new classroom space in basement
Stackable chairs -- $1,000
Set of fifty stackable chairs for use in new classroom space in basements as well as facility rentals and museum functions.
Portable benches for classroom space -- $1,000
Ten portable bench units for workshop use in classroom space.
High speed networked color copier/printer -- $7,000
This printer will allow for the printing of chapter newsletters, special event promotional literature, and other small run publications.
Facilities
Heat extraction fan blades for AC Chiller -- $6,000
Fan blades in place are made of plastic material and are subject to cracking. New blades for this unit will be made of metal and less prone to damage.
Light weight tables -- $1,000
Eight tables for functions at the museum including exhibit openings, educational programs, and facility rentals.
Library and Research Center
New Library Storage System -- $100,000
New high-density storage system for the NAWCC Library & Research Center will facilitate the Library's efforts to continue to collect and make accessible horological materials for NAWCC Members and the general public.

A pledge of half of the above amount ($50,000) would allow the Library and Research Center to apply for an IMLS 1:1 matching grant.
New microfilm reader -- $5,000
Old microfilm reader is inadequate for current volume of use. A new reader will enable users to obtain images of higher resolution that are easier to read and reproduce.
New copier -- $4,000
The copier in place has reached an age where parts are more difficult to obtain for necessary and/or routine repairs.
Keystone filming -- $30,000
Original hard copies of this jeweler’s magazine are deteriorating rapidly. These original copies are no longer suitable for use by Association or members or the general public. Filming of these publications would also reduce the amount of storage space in use to house them.
Library & Research Center Brochure -- $1,800
The library and research center is a valuable resource for members but is often underutilized by members simply because they are not aware of what it has to offer. By developing a brochure highlighting the services and resources available through the library, we can raise awareness, use, and perhaps support for it. The brochure will be especially valuable for new members being introduced to the organization.
Publications
Training funds for support staff -- $2,000
Periodic updates to layout and graphics software requires that training be available in order to take advantage of new innovations. There is a current need for training on the latest versions of PhotoShop and QuarkExpress. There is also a need for Microsoft Access training (published databases are stored and formatted through Access). One $500 course per year for each staff member would cost $2000 for each fiscal year.
