Special collections material includes 21,000 American patents; postcards dealing with horological subjects; postal stamps showing timekeeping devices; ledgers and drawings from the Hamilton Watch Company; the Whitaker Westclox collection; and the personal papers of such noted horologists as Jesse Coleman, Orville Hagans, Barclay Stephens, Robert Franks, James W. Research Center Services

We do not provide appraisals, values, or authentifications of timepieces.

The National Watch and Clock Museum Library and Research Center provides free research services to members of the Association. Members inquiring about a watch or clock are asked to send clear photographs of their watch or clock, its dial, its movement, and any trademarks or words that appear on any of the above mentioned parts. It is difficult to provide good information if we do not see pictures of what you have! Research inquiries can deal with any aspect of horology, except values of items. NAWCC staff and volunteers are prohibited from appraising items, placing values on them, or providing authentifications.library3.jpg (5758 bytes)

Research Requests for Members

E-mail requests for research will be accepted from members only. Digital images of a specific timepiece's movement, case, and dial should also be sent to research@nawcc.org.  Please include your member number; we cannot process requests without it. Requests for a member's friend or family members will be charged as a non-member research (see below).

Please see: Member Research Services

Research Requests for non-Members

Non-member requests for research must be mailed to the Library. No e-mail requests for research from non-members will be accepted. Photographs of the item to be researched must be sent with a check for $60.00 U.S. funds (payable to NAWCC, Inc) from non-members. This fee is our per item, non-member research fee. Requests requiring 5 minutes or less will be charged a minimum $15.00.

Please see: Non-Member Research Requests

Bulletins

A fantastic amount of information on clocks, watches, and other timepieces, and their makers, can be obtained from the NAWCC Bulletins. In order to consult the online Bulletin index, simply go to the NAWCC Home page and click on the left hand link (4th link from the top) that says, “Bulletin Index Search” and proceed to conduct your searches there. Please note, however, that the articles listed there have not been scanned; therefore, you will have to provide the issue and page numbers (last two columns showing on the Bulletin Index listings) whenever photocopies or digital scans are requested

Slide Programs

Slide programs are available for Chapter use only through the Headquarters' office.
